Field Technicians / Lab Technicians
Promax Agronomy Services is an independent soil and crop consulting business based in Alberta. We deliver services to agricultural producers, in areas related to soils, fertility, crop production and soil moisture management.
We are currently accepting applications for multiple summer student positions based in Lethbridge for 2025. The following positions are available:
Summer Lab Technician
5 days/week - Working indoors at a lab at the University of Lethbridge, under the direction of Dr. Dmytro Yevtushenko
Monday – Friday, approximately 35 hours/week
Summer Lab / Field Technician
5 days/week total, including
3 days/week - Working outdoors in potato fields
2 days/week - Working indoors at a lab at the University of Lethbridge , under the direction of Dr. Dmytro Yevtushenko
Monday – Friday, approximately 35 hours/week
Responsibilities
Responsibilities in the lab will include using microscopes to identify insects and disease spores related to growth and production of potatoes, assisting with PCR analysis and using computers to report the data.
Responsibilities in the field will include collection of potato plant and soil samples, and with safe operation of a vehicle (truck) to the various fields, including driving on highways and gravel roads.
Term
- Mid May until end of August (with option to work into early September).
Qualifications
- Some post-secondary education, or enrollment in the fall 2025 semester
- High level of attention to detail
- A track record of being punctual and reliable
- For the Field Technician: a Class 5 Drivers License, a clean driving record, and ability to operate a truck on gravel roads
- Understanding of, and agreement to, keep data and methodology confidential.
